General Appearance

The Bearded Collie, or Beardie as it is often called, is a medium sized herding dog originally hailing from Scotland. It generally stands between 20 and 22 inches and weighs between 50 and 60 pounds. This breed has a double coat, which consists of a soft undercoat and a long, shaggy outercoat. The coat is generally grey and white.

Temperament

The Beardie has a boisterous personality and plenty of energy. It is often said that this breed has a sense of humor. It is very intelligent, athletic, and agile. The Bearded Collie is a relatively healthy breed and has few genetic problems, although hip-displasia can occasionally occur.
