General Appearance

The Cairn Terrier is one of the smallest working terriers. Originally from Scotland, this terrier retains its warm, shaggy coat. It has a soft undercoat and medium length outercoat. The coat comes in a large variety of colors; white is the only exception. The Cairn usually weighs 13 or 14 pounds.

Temperament

The Cairn Terrier is intelligent, alert, and spirited. It is a terrier through and through and has an abundance of energy. It makes a wonderful family dog and does very well with children. This is a hardy breed that lives up to 15 years.
