General Appearance

The American Eskimo is a small spitz-type breed, which looks quite a bit like a miniature Samoyed. It has a wedge shaped head, erect triangle ears, a fury spitz tail, and a beautiful, thick, double coat of pure white fur. This breed comes in three distinct sizes, the largest of which stands 15 to 19 inches, the middle stands 12 to 15 inches, and the smallest is 9 to 12 inches.

Temperament

The American Eskimo Dog, or Eskie as it is often called, makes a wonderful companion dog or family dog. Intelligent and people-friendly, this breed fits right in with most families. The Eskie is wonderful with children and other animals. It makes a very good watchdog, alerting owners of any visitors, but it is never aggressive.
