General Appearance

Used in Ireland since the seventeenth century, the Glen of Imaal Terrier is a surprisingly sturdy built dog. It stands about 14 inches and weighs roughly 35 pounds. Its coat is rough and wavy and generally comes in blue, wheaten, or brindle colors. This breed is relatively low to the ground and longer than it is tall. It is very muscular, and its jaws are very powerful.

Temperament

Once used as a vermin killer, badger hunter, and also regularly used in staged dog fights, this breed is capable and fearless. Although this little dog is quite tenacious in the face of danger and can be a bit of a trouble maker, it is well known to have a charming personality. It is said to make a wonderful family dog and to be very good with children.
