General Appearance

Largest of the setters, this breed has a recognizable black and mahogany coat of long, slightly wavy hair. The Gordon Setter stands 24 to 27 inches at the shoulders. Its weight is variable and is anywhere from 45 pounds to 80 pounds.

Temperament

The Gordon Setter is known to be a very devoted dog and a fantastic hunting companion. Although it loves companionship and seeks to please its family, this breed has a tendency to be protective of its family and doesn’t readily warm up to strangers.
