General Appearance

The Australian Shepherd is a very popular breed of dog. It varies in shape and size depending on blood line: some lines were selected for show ring looks, while others were developed purely for their working ability. Regardless of the line, this medium breed is solidly built and stands 18 to 23 inches at the withers. It has a thick coat in one of four colors: black, red merle, blue merle, and solid red. The coat often has white and tan markings. They can come in Toy, Mini and Standard.
