Are you looking for Norwegian Elkhound puppies for sale? Below you’ll find information on this medium-sized arctic dog.
General Appearance
The Norwegian Elkhound is an able little hunting dog said to have been used by the ancient Vikings. It has alert ears and a spitz-like tail. Its double coat of fur consists of a thick, cream-colored undercoat and a hard outercoat with black-tipped hairs. The black and cream fur gives this breed a grey coloring. The Norwegian Elkhound stands 19 to 20 inches tall and weighs 45 to 55 pounds.
Temperament
The Norwegian Elkhound has a pleasant personality. It is energetic, friendly, and gentle. This dog is well mannered inside and very active outside. It will announce visitors with its bark and will likely bark at things outside if left unattended. It may also bark inside if left alone too long.
Is a Norwegian Elkhound Puppy Right for You?
This sturdy little canine makes an excellent family dog. It is good with children and other pets, and happy to be with its family. It does require lots of exercise and is definitely not a good choice for those not willing (or able) to hike, jog, or bike with their Norwegian Elkhound on a daily basis. Obedience training is essential, because this breed is very independent.
