General Appearance

The Rottweiler is a large, powerful working dog originally bred as a herding dog capable of protecting stock. It stands 22 to 27 inches at the shoulders and weighs 75 to 130 pounds. The Rottweiler has a dense, medium coat that is black/rust or black/mahagany in color.

Temperament

The Rottweiler is a working breed of very high intelligence. Indeed, it is among the smartest of dog breeds. This breed is happiest when it has a job to do. It is a natural guard dog or herding dog. It makes a suitable family dog and does very well with children and pets.  When quality is bred this breed is healthy, but as any large breed  it does occasionally suffer from hip/elbow dysplasia, & Eye Tropians and cateracts. You may want to ask the breeder if genetic testing was done on the parents.

This breed does best in rural areas where it has plenty of space.
