General Appearance
English Shepherds are working dogs, valued for their versatility, loyalty, and intelligence. They make wonderful companions and working partners in homes where their intelligence, spirit, and devotion are understood and appreciated. English Shepherds come in four traditional color patterns: black and tan, sable and white, tricolor (black, white and tan), and black and white.The English Shepherd’s coat is Medium length and texture, straight, wavy or curly, weather and dirt-resistant, with an undercoat that sheds seasonally. Hair is short and smooth on the head, outside of ears, front of forelegs and below the hocks. An English Shepherd requires minimal grooming.
Temperament
English Shepherds are intelligent, alert, responsive working dogs.They are exceptionally devoted, and have a strong desire to work to please their owner, whatever the task. Many English Shepherds are therapy dogs in nursing homes and hospitals. They have a beautiful blend of itelligence, trainability and are great athletes.
