General Appearance

The Hovawart looks somewhat like a Golden retriever. The long haired, dense coat is slightly wavy, laying flat, common colors are black, Gold, black and gold. The Hovawart’s coat is easy to groom, a daily brushing to keep tangles at bay. The average height is 23-28in. weight is aprox. 55-90lb. Average life span is 10 -14 years.

Temperament

The Hovawart is usually calm in the house as long as he has had his daily exercise, determined,obedient, and affectionate and very loyal to family. Excellent with children as long as they were well socialized as youngsters. The Hovawart has a strong sense of territory and rarely wanders away from home.
