General Appearance
The Keeshond looks much like more common spitz dogs, with a curled tale, alert ears, fox-like face, and thick winter coat. This medium breed has a beautiful two-layer coat: the outercoat is gray and black and sticks out from the body, the undercoat is a creamy color. Its body is square and it stands about 19 inches tall and weighs around 40 pounds.
Temperament
This alert, intelligent breed was long used on barges as a guard dog and to kill rats. For this reason, it has no problem living in smaller areas and will act naturally as a watchdog. This breed learns quickly and is one of the most intelligent breeds. It has successfully been used as a guide dog.
