General Appearance

The Neapolitan Mastiff is a monster of a dog. It stands 26 to 29 inches tall at the shoulders and weighs between 140 and 170 pounds. It isn’t uncommon for large males to exceed 200 pounds. The head of this breed is large with droopy skin folds. Its neck is thick and muscular. Its coat is short and generally solid black, brown, or grey; it also comes in brindle.

Temperament

This breed is a natural guard dog and will guard its owner and property. However, it isn’t normally an aggressive dog, and it is generally relaxed and calm. The Neapolitan Mastiff doesn’t bark very often either, making it a relatively unobtrusive house guard. This dog is loyal and affectionate towards its owners.
