General Appearance

The Parson Russell Terrier doesn’t differ much from the Jack Russell Terrier. It does have longer legs, since it was bred to keep up with larger dogs on a hunt. This breed isn’t very large, standing 13 or 14 inches tall, but it is sturdily built. It should weigh up to 17 pounds. Its coat is slightly wiry, dense, and mostly white with black or tan patches.

Temperament

This happy breed has boundless energy. It is ready to go all the time. The Parson Russell Terrier was bred to chase foxes out of their holes. As a result, this breed is quite bold and can be tenacious. It excels as a ratter and shouldn’t be kept with cats unless it was raised with them. It can live with children, but it isn’t always tolerant of being handled; early socialization with children is preferable.
