• Are there any common health problems associated with this breed?
• Can I meet the puppy's mother and father?
• If one of the parents is not available, does the Breeder have pictures available of the parent?
• May I see / visit where the puppies are raised?
• What is the average lifespan of the dogs?
• What type of food do you feed your dogs?
• At what age can the puppy go to their new home?
• Does the puppy have an immunization record?
• Have the puppies been socialized?
• Can the breeder provide references?
• What guarantees are provide with the puppy?
• Do you require spay/neuter contracts on your pet quality puppies?

Most breeders are more than happy to answer questions related to the purchase of their puppies. Good breeders will be just as concerned for the type of person and household buying a puppy.
Remember: It is up to both the Buyer and the Breeder to be comfortable with one another and to ensure that the puppy has been and will be treated properly.
How to protect yourself when buying a puppy online:

1. Email may be the initial form of contact when locating a Breeder through the site. This should not be the only form of contact. Once you have your initial questions answered and feel you want to move forward with the purchase of the puppy, ask for a phone number if one is not provided on the ad site and discuss further options with the Breeder. If they refuse to give a phone number or they state that their phone is out of service, walk away from the sale.
2. “NEVER” send money through Western Union. There is no way to protect the funds in case a problem of fraud arises.
3. Every listing on the site will show the location of the Breeder. The location is something that the Breeder designates upon their account creation. If they ask you to send money to another country (i.e. Nigeria, Africa, London, etc.), or even a different state than the one shown on the listings, discontinue the purchase and report them to PuppyTrader.com
