General Appearance

Rat Terriers somewhat resemble Jack Russell Terriers, however they are not so heavily boned. The Rat Terrier stands between 13 and 18 inches at the shoulders, and it weighs up to 25 pounds. It has a short, single coat of straight fur that comes in a variety of colors including several tri-color variations: black, white, and tan; blue, black, and white; and brown, black, and white.

Temperament

Rat Terriers have a subdued terrier personality. They are intelligent and energetic, however they enjoy lounging and even being lapdogs. Rat Terriers learn quickly and make excellent household pets. They do well with children.
