General Appearance

Although smaller, the Vizsla has a similar build to the Weimaraner, and it has a similar coat color as the Rhodesian Ridgeback. The Vizsla is compact, muscular, yet elegantly put together. Its short coat is a striking, solid rust color with occasional white markings on feet and chest. Standing 21 to 24 inches, the Vizsla weighs 40 to 60 pounds.

Temperament

Extremely alert and intelligent, the Vizsla is highly trainable and enjoys working. This is an affectionate, gentle dog that is loyal to its family. It does well with children. Vizslas excel as gun dogs and are natural pointers that can be trained to retrieve on land or water. This breed enjoys water.

The size of this breed makes it attractive as a house pet, and it can live virtually anywhere. It isn’t built for extremely cold weather, but it keeps moving enough to stay warm in most conditions.
